Somerset County Council have given notice that they intend to construct a road-hump in Silver Street, at the entrance to Kings School. The purpose of the hump is to slow traffic at that point, and therefore reduce the risk to pupils and others crossing the road.
This proposal is one part of a larger County Council scheme to calm traffic in the Silver Street / Plox area. We will publish details of their proposals for the junction at the bottom of Godminster Lane when these are available.
Excellent idea – I am very surprised there has not been an accident beforehand.
Many take no notice of the 20 mph limit and crest the blind brow of the far too quickly, just as pupils exit from the staircase in Riverside Walk gardens to cross Plox.
If your local you could use this road two or three times a day this would cause excess wear and tear on the car and it’s no good for caravans .
Also extra co2 emissions would arise as traffic would have slow down then pull away again ,this would apply to HGV which seems to be increasing in Bruton
