We are pleased to announce that a Remembrance Day service will go ahead in a modified form on Sunday at the usual time. Due to the restrictions it will not be possible for us to enjoy all the usual things such as the parade and the band. However, St Mary’s Bruton and the Royal British Legion will be able to offer the traditional service from the memorial in the churchyard, including the reading of names, the 2-minutes’ silence, and the laying of the wreaths.

Unfortunately it will not be possible this year to close the road or clear the vehicles from the bridge, so it is important to state that there will not be enough room for people to safely gather. St Mary’s Bruton are making efforts to live-stream the service to you, which will shared on the Church website. We respectfully advise that it would be safest, and appropriate, for those who can to observe the two-minutes’ silence at their front door.

These are very difficult times, and we hope that even though we can’t meet, the service in its reduced form will serve as a reminder of the gratitude we have for those who gave their lives in the service of their country.
