I very much hope the Council will oppose 20/0229/OUT. as it uses the proposed priority system for the Brewham Road. Photographs and a video taken by Councillor Piers Skinner showing the difficulties and danger that would be caused at the junction with Frome Road have been ignored as has the evidently minor point that the residents of the Toll House will be unable to unload a vehicle. Is the” quiet enjoyment” of current residents considered? Since the application for Brewham Road South was approved the situation has changed. Our Council has been keen to encourage cycling and there has been a vast increase in the number of cyclists of all ages using this road. I am told it is the best road out of Bruton I am told by a keen local cyclist that the restrictions will be son absurd that cyclists will ignore them, putting themselves and others in danger. The problems that will be experienced by an adult with a pram plus one or two small children when meeting a similar party coming in the opposite direction have been previously stated. One pram will have to leave the pavement, some will have to step into the road possibly in front of fast moving traffic. At present vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians manage to work well together. I do hope the Council will be able to cause this absurd plan to be dropped.
