This week there was an inspection of the playground equipment and 2 items were identified as not being fit for purpose. Therefore they have been removed. Bruton Town Council intends to replace them as soon as possible and will be consulting the community in due course.

“As Soon As Possible” and “Consulting The Public In Due Coarse” is a very vague statement which means nothing and can be as long as a piece of string. Can the council please state/give a target time with which the council can be monitored against. Children’s play areas are very important especially to young families. I am assuming the town council will act with haste and not kick this matter into the long grass as a delaying tactic!!
Ah, several months have come and gone, yet still no sign of a public consultation. It looks as though “long grass tactics” are in play. Neither has anybody had the good grace to reply to my statement. So Town Council, you are elected to make decisions, make one and decide how to replace the missing slide and see saw.
It’s now November 5th and since the inspection of the playground in April 2021 and the council’s comments that the failed items will be replaced ASAP, nothing has happened. No public consultation, no new equipment! It seems like my comments of July 3rd were correct. It HAS been pushed into the long grass. Prove me wrong.
Dear Mr Clarke
The town was consulted about what equipment at the Community Fete and asking the actual users at the preschools and primary school. This was then taken to Full Council who approved the majority decision. It was then a case of finding the money to pay for it. Currently BTC are waiting the outcome of a grant requested. If successful the funds necessary will be in place so the equipment can be ordered.
