Nomination forms for parish and town elections have arrived and are now available at the BTC Community Office.

The most important point to emphasise at this stage is to pay attention to the KEY DATES.

All dates are contained within the nomination forms; however, the one which should concern you most (in my opinion) at the moment is below:

Delivery of nomination papers from 21 March to 4pm on Tuesday 5 April.

The papers MUST be delivered to the Returning Officer, South Somerset District Council, Brympton Way, Yeovil BA20 2HS – I must emphasise, the papers MUST BE DELIVERED BY HAND. Election officers should check the form then and there.

I would highly advise that anyone intending to stand does not leave it to the last minute to complete their forms. Hand them in at earliest convenience if possible and DO NOT leave it to the last day. If there are any issues, then you are risking it. Officers can be very strict.

I would also personally advise to complete two forms with two different pairs of signatories. It only takes one of your signatories to put a nickname down or to not be on the electoral roll for your form to be rejected. Please check this before you ask someone to sign your form.

If you would prefer to print off your own copy, you may find a copy here: Current elections and referenda | South Somerset District Council

If you have any specific questions relating to whether you can stand, please email: elections@southsomerset.gov.uk

Also, please feel free to ask the team at Bruton. We are happy to help. If you know someone who needs help, please also ask them to come into the Community Office also. Once again, happy to help.
