On Monday, the Government announced some details of its scheme, ‘Homes for Ukraine‘, under which people can register their willingness to host refugees in their own homes.
Bruton Town Council will consider what support it can provide, working with St Mary’s Church, Bruton’s Schools, and other local organisations, at an Extraordinary Full Council Meeting in Bruton Methodist Chapel, from 5 pm this Friday, 18 March.
Reverend Jonathan Evans of St Mary’s Bruton said:
“Faced with the massive suffering in Ukraine, we intend to work together as a community to find the best ways to make an effective, humane and compassionate response. We have both the resources and the desire; we now need a plan.”
