We are a council that is ambitious for Bruton. We believe that an active town council can make a big difference to a small town. We would like to recruit an assistant clerk who shares this belief to support the existing team can help us deliver some exciting projects.

We know that our staff are our greatest asset. The successful applicant will hold or be willing to obtain a relevant sector qualification (the Certificate in Local Council Administration) and be able to support the staff team, ensuring all key legal, financial and governance requirements are met. Some evening work will be required to attend council and committee meetings.
In return, we are offering a competitive salary (SCP 14-18 (£25,409- £27,344 pro-rata)), 20 hours per week. There might be scope to increase or change these working hours in the future. Bruton is an attractive, small rural town in the south east corner of Somerset (close to the Wiltshire and Dorset borders). You will be based in the town council office situated in the centre of a bustling high street that offers a good selection of shops and some excellent places to eat!
