Council Committees

Much of the work of the Council is carried out by its committees – small groups of councillors and others who take on specific responsibilities for parts of the Council’s functions.

The Council also makes Delegated Decisions which are published.

A chair is elected at the first meeting of the committee after Annual Town Council Meeting held in May each year.

The key committees, which meet regularly throughout the year, are:

Town Committee

Oversees the management of all Land, Buildings, and other physical assets, owned or managed by the Town Council,

Planning and Consultation Response

Co-ordinates the Council’s responses to planning applications in the town, responds to planning and traffic consultations, and discussion in detail planning and transport matters as they affect Bruton.

Finance & Resources

Makes decisions and recommendations regarding the budget, expenditure and policies regarding the Council’s resources.
