Much of the work of the Council is carried out by its committees – small groups of councillors and others who take on specific responsibilities for parts of the Council’s functions. The key committees, which meet regularly throughout the year, are:
Services & Amenities
Responsible for the planning and delivery of all the Council’s services.

Co-ordinates the Council’s responses to planning applications in the town.

Finance & General Purposes
Sets the budget and approves spending, including grant applications.

Devises the Council’s policies on transport issues, including footpaths and cycling.

Co-ordinates the communication between the Council and the residents of the town, and promotion of Bruton to visitors.

Land and Properties Committee
Responsible for land and property owned and leased by the Council
