Work has progressed well this week, with the following update:
- The contractor has completed the surface laying of pathways through Abbey Ponds and the Community Garden.
- There is further machinery work required to compact the surface, for which a drier spell of weather is required.
- the new gates and posts need to be installed.
The contractor is and has been enabling access as much as possible. Please be advised there may be times when the gates are being installed, that footpath users may need to wait momentarily whilst the contractor allows access. It is anticipated that this will be minimal.
The gateway at the railway bridge entrance to Abbey Ponds will be installed next week (w/c 17th November 2025). The footpath and gateway are open.
Replacement of the other gates will start tomorrow (14th November) starting with the gate at the top of the allotment field.
PLEASE NOTE: (for those with dogs and small children) there will be a period of time with no gates; there is clear access to the main road and pathway.
