Bruton Town Council officers have met with a contractor to agree and safely plan some maintenance along the Hedge line bordering between Abbey Ponds and the field behind the Dovecote.
Some of you may or may not be aware that this piece of land is categorised as SCHEDULED ANCIENT MONUMENT, which means there is legislation in place to protect it. As such, Bruton Town Council have a duty to follow specific guidance in authorising works to be carried out in this area and our officers have sought advice from Historic England. Officers met with the very experienced contractor onsite and are satisfied that compliance and safety to the site is ensured. This work is planned to take place when weather permits.
