On Saturday 10 August the council received notice of a planning application for 49 homes in the field to the north-east of Cuckoo Hill. The deadline for reponses to Somerset Council is given as 30 August 2024, though we understand that this may be extended.

The town council has arranged an extra-ordinary meeting to agree its recommendations about the proposals. This will take place on Tuesday 20 August, at 7.30 pm, in the Community Hall in Silver Street. The developers have been invited to present their proposals, and there will be an opportunity for residents to make points and ask questions of the developers before the council discussion. All are welcome.

Direct responses to the consultation should be made on the Somerset Council website here.

The website also has full details of the proposals, which can be viewed here. Unlike the two ‘Brewham Road’ developments, which are seeking outline consent, this application is for full consent so contains details about construction and appearance of the properties.
